What we do

Inner Education Foundation

Inner Education Foundation was created to help children develop the skills they need to understand themselves, relate to others and navigate the world around them.

We believe education should support more than academic achievement. Attention, emotional awareness, self-understanding and resilience are essential to how children learn, grow and engage with the world.

Our mission is to make these dimensions of development accessible to every school and every child.

OUR MISSION

Making Inner Education part of every child’s education

Our mission is to complement modern education by helping children develop the skills they need to understand themselves, relate to others and navigate life.

Modern education develops academic skills and knowledge and prepares children for future careers. However, while children learn how to succeed in the external world, they are often given little support in developing emotional awareness, self-understanding and the skills to navigate stress and other challenges.

Inner Education addresses this gap by helping children develop self-awareness, emotional balance and the ability to navigate their thoughts, emotions and relationships.

More about our mission
WHAT INNER EDUCATION IS

Inner Education focuses on the skills that help us understand ourselves, relate to others and navigate the world around us.

It includes developing skills such as attention, emotional awareness and regulation, self-understanding, resilience, empathy, healthy relationships and a sense of purpose. These skills shape how children learn, make decisions, handle challenges and grow.

Inner Education does not replace academic education. It complements it by recognizing that education is about not only what we know, but also how we understand ourselves, relate to others and respond to the world.

Why Now

Children are growing up in a world competing for their attention

The modern world constantly competes for children's attention. Screens, notifications, entertainment and information are everywhere, making it harder for children to slow down, focus and stay present.

But attention is only one part of the challenge. Growing up also means learning how to understand what is happening inside you and respond to the world around you. Children need to understand their emotions, manage stress, make decisions, listen to their bodies, build healthy relationships and develop a clear sense of themselves.

Inner Education helps children develop the awareness and skills they need to navigate everyday life.

A Quiet Crisis

What children are facing today

This is not a small shift. It is a global emergency for childhood. International research from the WHO, UNESCO, OECD and leading universities is converging on the same picture — and the trend is accelerating.

5–7 hrs
Daily screen time

Children and teens now spend five to seven hours a day in front of screens — more time than they spend with family, in nature or in unstructured play.

~6 sec
Sustained attention

Average sustained focus on a single task has collapsed to just a few seconds, making deep learning, reading and reflection increasingly difficult.

Mental health struggles

Roughly one in five children and adolescents experiences anxiety, depression or chronic stress — numbers that have risen sharply in the last decade.

Wellbeing in decline

Sleep, physical activity, emotional regulation and empathy are all measurably declining in younger generations across countries and cultures.

Research points to growing challenges around attention, wellbeing and mental health among children and young people. Schools are looking for practical ways to support students in these areas.
